Michael Maher

Combining an eye for detail, a creative approach and a curious mindset, Michael began his career in the public sector. It was here that he began to forge his deep commitment to social policy reform and improving outcomes for individuals, communities and society.

Michael has held executive positions leading policy, program, resource allocation and reform functions in the Victorian Government. During his twenty year career in the public sector Michael had the opportunity to work in all social policy departments and agencies and in both central agencies.

Before founding The Ravel Group, Michael directed the Victorian and South Australian offices of PwC’s Indigenous Consulting (PIC) leading engagements consistent with PIC’s purpose of enabling meaningful change in Aboriginal communities. During this time Michael was also PIC’s national lead for evaluation and review. Prior to this Michael directed and led social policy engagements in PwC’s Melbourne office with a particularly focus on early childhood, education and human services.

Michael’s qualifications include:

  • Harvard University, Senior Executive Fellow, Kennedy School of Government

  • University of Melbourne, Executive Master of Public Administration, Australia and New Zealand School of Government (ANZSOG)

  • Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Graduate Diploma (Business Administration)

  • University of Melbourne, Bachelor of Arts (Honours)
